All money raised for the Little Buds Fund goes to supporting babies who need that little bit of extra help when they are born. At Darent Valley Hospital we have a new and larger Special Care Baby Unit, plus a fetal monitoring unit. This compliments the much larger maternity and midwifery led unit thanks to all the help we have received via donations to the Little Buds Fund. Originally Darent Valley Hospital was built to cope with 2,000 births each year. Year on year this number has grown steadily to nearly three times this figure. This is because more and more mothers are choosing to have their babies with us. Occasionally some of these babies need that extra special care and this is where we can all help. We have some splendid new facilities but we do need the help of charitable donations to introduce more equipment for special care babies as well as equipment to care for mothers and babies before they are born. We need to ensure that every child born here has the very best possible care from the moment they are conceived to those needing special care after the birth. We are calling on the community to donate or raise funds for our Little Buds Fund helping the hospital introduce more of this essential equipment.
