Patient Transport

Important Changes to the Patient Transport Service (PTS)

 

The PTS across Kent will be provided by (NSL Care Services) from Monday 1st July 2013.

 

A new booking system will be introduced, with online and telephone options. Existing bookings will be honoured. A named point of contact (Floor Walker) will assist with day-to-day issues.

Patient transport is provided by Darent Valley Hospital, if it is your first appointment contact the Primary Care Transport Co-ordinator on 01322 428877. 

 

You will be asked a series of questions to assess your exact needs for transport.

 

Transport is provided on a strict medical need. Once you have had your first appointment, the consultant/receptionist will arrange any further transport required.

 

Different transport options are: volunteer ambulance cars or ambulances that convey people on stretchers, chair or in their own wheelchair.

North West Kent Volunteer Centre driving scheme for people needing to travel to medical appointments or who may wish to visit someone in hospital.

The service is for any anyone over the age of 65 or for disabled people who are younger and mainly for medical appointments or visiting someone in hospital.

 

The charges are as follows:

  • £2 administration fee plus 45p a mile paid directly to the driver.
