Welcome to the Cardiology Department at Darent Valley Hospital

The cardiology team's objective is to deliver a patient-centred service, in modern facilities, accessible to all, integrated and as seamless as possible with primary care. Health Professionals will hopefully find this site a useful tool which will allow them to make appropriate use of open access tests and rapid access clinics for the benefit of patients. Where possible, patients will be offered direct listing for investigations and procedures ensuring that those patients identified with potentially critical disease are channelled rapidly through to an early diagnosis and effective treatment across the wide spectrum of cardiac conditions.

Darent Valley has launched a service for patients with coronary artery disease who need specialist treatment - until now patients have had to travel to London for coronary angioplasty, but now patients are able to have this innovative procedure carried out in the Heart Centre at Darent Valley Hospital.

Patients are now benefiting from faster results thanks to a new portable cardiac echo machine, not only is the machine faster at powering up, it is more portable and easily taken from ward to ward. Previously patients had to come to the department for the tests but now the machine can be taken directly to the patient on the ward.
